I’m sure you’ve heard about illnesses that are psychosomatic – an excellent example of this is irritable bowel syndrome – where the body experiences serious and painful digestive problems brought on by thought. Psychosomatic illnesses differ from hypochondria – where patients have no physical symptoms but imagine they do. With psychosomatic ailments – the brain is actually responsible for the body getting sick. Doctors have long known that stress can lead to heart disease and ulcers – despite seeming illogical that a person could use their own brain to cause them pain and suffering – hospitals ( and graveyards ) are full of people that literally thought themselves there.
So if the brain can cause harm to the body – of which there is no doubt – it then seems equally as logical that it can also heal the body. There are numerous stories of miraculous recoveries after traditional medicine has failed – and the potential for being proactive, through hypnotherapy, towards one’s own health opens exciting possibilities.
